ATKOMATIC SOLENOID VALVES
PILOT-OPERATED SOLENOID VALVES
Atkomatic pilot operated solenoid valves come in a wide variety of sizes, materials and pressure ratings. The solenoid on the normally-closed versions only open a small pilot orifice in the piston, which unbalances the valve and allows the line pressure differential to open the main valve seat. A minimum pressure differential of 5 psig must be maintained to open the valve and keep it open.
When the solenoid is de-energized, the plunger assembly drops onto the pilot seat, allowing pressure to build up above the piston. This, assisted by the piston spring, closes the valve.
Some typical applications for pilot operated solenoid valves include:
- Fill line cooking tubs
- Commercial washing machines
- Steam cleaning equipment
- High-pressure car wash equipment
- Water cleaning of hot metal
- Main line, high pressure systems
NOTE: these pilot operated solenoid valves must be mounted in a horizontal pipeline, with the coil oriented vertically over the pipe centerline, in order to operate correctly.
